Heidi (1881) by Johanna Spyri is a charming novel about an orphaned girl. She was initially raised by her aunt Detie in Maienfeld, Switzerland after the early deaths of her parents, Tobias and Adelheid (Detieā€™s sister and brother-in-law). Detie brings 6-year-old Heidi to her paternal grandfatherā€™s house, up the mountain from Dƶrfli.
