I began making panoramic photographs in the 1970s after seeing
the work that American photographer Art Sinsabaugh created with a 12” x 20" view camera. I liked how panoramic photographs could subtly alter space and enable the viewer to look at ordinary things in a different way. I wanted to buy a camera like Sinsabaugh’s but was unable to find one. Next, I turned to glueing together darkroom prints of carefully shot overlapping photographs. Not satisfied, I tried using in-camera panoramic masks to create the proportions that I wanted. Digital photography made panoramic photography much easier. I now use the Pano option in the Camera app on iPhones and the Photo Merge option in Lightroom.
